SIGHT / VISTA

Our eyes are our sense organs of sight.
Los ojos son los órganos del sentido de la vista.

We use our eyes to see.

They give us important information. We use them to see colours, size, shape, position and distance.

Los ojos nos dan información importante como: los colores, el tamaño, la forma, la posición y la distancia.

PARTS OF THE EYE/ PARTES DEL OJO

We use some parts of the eye to see.

We use the cornea, pupil, iris, lens, retina and optic nerve to see.

Usamos la córnea, pupila, iris, cristalino, retina y nervio óptico para ver.

We use other parts are for protection

Eyelids protect the eyes by opening and closing. Eyebrows and eyelashes protect the eyes from dirt. Tears

keep the eyes moist.

How does the light enter through the eyes?
¿Cómo entra la luz en el ojo?

1. Light passes through the cornea. (The cornea is transparent.)
La luz pasa a través de la córnea. (la córnea es transparente)

2.- Then, light passes through the pupil. The pupil is the hole in the centre of the iris.
Después, la luz pasa a través de la pupila. La pupila es un agujero en el centro del iris.

3.-The level of light is controlled by the iris. The iris is a coloured ring.
El nivel de luz es controlado por el iris. El iris es anillo coloreado.

4. The lens helps the eye to focus.
El cristalino ayuda al ojo a enfocar.

5. Finally, the retina captures the light.
Finalmente, la retina captura la luz.

6. The optic nerve takes the image we see to the brain.
El nervio óptico coge la imagen que vemos y la envía al cerebro.
