The Inner Plateau: The Inner Plateau is a vast, high plain in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula.

River basins: A river basin is a low, wide valley crossed by rivers. 

There are two main river basins in Spain: the Guadalquivir river basin in the south, and the Ebro river basin in the east.

                       NOW LET´S WATCH A VIDEO IN SPANISH ABOUT THE RELIEF OF SPAIN.

Coasts: Spain has three different coastal areas: the Cantabrian coast, the Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean coast. There are many different relief features. There are gulfs, such as the Gulf of Cádiz, and capes, such as Cape Nao.

Archipelagos: Archipelagos are groups of islands. In Spain there are two: the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean, and the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea.

ROCKS AND THEIR USES

ROCKS are inorganic natural substances. They are  normally composed of more than one mineral. There are 3 main types of rocks depending on how they are formed.

1. IGNEOUS ROCKS (ígneas): these rocks form when molten lava from volcanoes cools and hardens. For example: granite and basalt.

 2. SEDIMENTARY ROCKS (sedimentarias): layers of other rocks fragments, animal or plant fossils. They compact over millions of years to form rock. For example: clay and limestone.

 3. METAMORPHIC ROCKS (metamórficas): igneous or sedimentary rocks that are transformed into a new rock. If rocks are buried deep in the earth at high temperatures and pressures, they form metamorphic rocks.  For example: marble and slate.

THE EARTH´S CRUST AND LAYERS

                       The Earth’s layers

 The Earth is made up of three layers.

The atmosphere is made up of air.

 The hydrosphere is all the water on Earth.

The geosphere is the solid part of the Earth.

 The geosphere has three main parts: the crust, the mantle and the core.

  Crust: The solid outer layer.

  Mantle: The middle layer, made up of very          dense rock.

  Core: The inner layer of the geosphere.

Now we are going to watch some videos in spanish and in english to refresh our memories!!!!
